====== The new map portal ======

The Geoportal of the National Grand Duchy of Luxembourg offers a new map portal, which is free available from the beginning of February 2010 under the URL http://map.geoportal.lu. This special new version is oriented to the general public and offers the following advantages between the original geoportal:

  * A fullscreen mode, where the size of the map can be specified by the user
  * An increased speed of loading and displaying due to new technology used
  * An organization of contents by subject category rather than by data and data sets
  * Structured content, complies with European Directive INSPIRE
  * Intuitives manipulation tools similar to google
  * Managing the transparency of any data layer displayed
  * Background layers combines orthophotos and topographic maps through adjustable transparency
  * A quick search of municipalities, localities, addresses and parcel numbers in a single search box
